The time change is especially troubling women. Sleep disturbances and entertaining problems of the sleep rhythm are complaints, which can occur after a change of the summer in the winter time. This reports the health insurance KKH alliance, which commissioned a survey study at the opinion and research institute Forsa.
The winter season starts next Sunday. Then the clocks are reset at 3:00 in the morning by one hour. The change from the summer to the winter time can cause many people to mild discomfort. According to a representative Forsa survey, women are particularly affected by this phenomenon. For example, 46 percent of female respondents said that they are experiencing entertaining sleep-rhythm problems due to the time change. At men it was according to results „ only 36 percent“.
In further questions the persons concerned indicated, they „take several days to get back to normal sleep“. Nine percent of women and four percent of men even stated, „to suffer strongly from the time change“.
To alleviate the complaints, advises the cashier, „not to oversleep the days“, but to be active in the fresh air. Extended walks can help boost the cardiovascular system and strengthen the immune system. „In addition, sunlight is important for the formation of vitamin D, another natural helper against impending colds“, Georg Baur from the KKH Allianz service team in Memmingen. Those who feel physically balanced in the evening can better master the time changeover phase. 1014 adults of different ages took part in the survey in October. Physicians also assume that the time change favored winter depression. (Sb)
