Regular breaks for the feet
An extensive shopping spree, on the way at work: Many people know the problem of aching feet. To counteract foot pain and to bring refreshment, you should treat your soles regular breaks. According to a news agency dpa, Christoph Eichhorn of the German Orthopedic Association (DOV) in Cologne advises: „Sit down for three to five minutes every hour and take off your shoes.“ In addition, shoes without footbed are not recommended because they do not support the foot enough. Women should have comfortable replacement shoes if they do not want to do without stilettos when shopping. Because then they can change if necessary, if they should get sole pain.
Exercise to strengthen the muscles
To prevent possible pain and often associated walking difficulties, also strengthened muscles can help. Eichhorn recommends: „The toe-stance is an ideal exercise for this.“ This strengthens the muscles deep into the calf. For the exercise, the heels are repeatedly raised and lowered so that the person stands on the toe ball. But if the soles hurt despite all the prevention, a massage with a light foot cream can help. Eichhorn advises those who get in pain again and again after a short run to get advice from the orthopedist.
Different causes of foot pain
Medical advice is especially needed when foot pain occurs regardless of heavy load. The pain can be caused by many different causes, ranging from vascular diseases on sprains, fractures or torn ligaments to rheumatic diseases, gout, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. Often, the pain is also due to excessive pressure, circulatory disorders or impairments or diseases of the nerves. (Ad)
