Scientists measure the average length of sexual intercourse
Sex is not only the nicest thing in the world, but also part of numerous scientific investigations. In one study, researchers measured the average duration of couples worldwide. Your result is pretty sobering.

Sex life is the focus of scientific research
Maybe childbearing sex will not be necessary in a few decades, my researcher said. But the fun of the "nicest thing in the world" will remain safe. Sex life is also the focus of scientific research. For example, researchers from the University of Indiana (USA) last year reported that a more active sex life strengthens the immune system. Other scientists found in a study - not surprisingly - that reality and wishful thinking are far apart in sex. And again other researchers were concerned with the question of how long the average sexual intercourse takes. Mostly it is over faster than some - bragging men - mean.

Sexual intercourse is faster than expected on average
According to a survey conducted by the condom manufacturer "Durex", Germans imagine that having sex is ideal, having sexual intercourse five times a week, each lasting about 30 minutes. The act in German bedrooms is said to last an average of 23 minutes and 53 seconds. However, it is also known that probably hardly any other topic is so much as swindle, as in sex life. A research team has approached the question scientifically. The experts say the fun is over after just 5.4 minutes.

Average time to ejaculation
Like Dr. Brendan Zietsch from the University of Queensland (Australia) reported in a report from the website "The Conversation" that the best study on the duration of ejaculation included data from 500 couples worldwide over a four-week period measured the time of their sexual intercourse with the stopwatch. "Measuring the average time to ejaculation is not easy," says Zietsch. On the one hand, there is a lie, on the other hand, couples do not necessarily have the clock in view during the act.

Each sexual act measured with stopwatch
In the study, the researchers have measured 500 couples from the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, the US and Turkey for four weeks every sexual intercourse - from penetration into the vagina to ejaculation. "This is as awkward as it sounds: Participants had to press Start when they penetrated with the penis, and Stop when they ejaculated," explained Zietsch. Of course this could influence the mood of the act. "But - science is rarely perfect, and that's the best we have."

From 33 seconds to 44 minutes
As the research team noted, the lovers are on average just 5.4 minutes at work. This is much shorter than generally assumed. It was shown that contraception or the (not) existing foreskin had no influence on the duration. However, the age already: So are 18 to 30-year-olds on average after 6.5 minutes, men over 50 years but already finished after 4.3 minutes. Nationality also played a big role. In the first place, the British landed with 7.6 minutes, closely followed by the Americans (7.0 minutes). In third place, the Spaniard finished with 5.8 minutes ahead of the Dutch (5.1 minutes). The bottom is Turkey with 3.7 minutes. Furthermore, there were large individual fluctuations. Thus, a couple indicated to let up to the peak on average 44 minutes. Another couple was already finished after 33 seconds. "So you can see that there is no 'normal' duration for sex," said Dr. Zietsch. (Ad)
