Young people largest group of patients at homeopathic doctors

Parents trust homeopathy: One third of all patients are under 20 years old. No age group is treated as often homeopathic as children and adolescents, said the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) in April in Dusseldorf. At about 30 percent, the younger generation under the age of 20 made the largest group of patients among homeopathic physicians in North Rhine-Westphalia last year. „Obviously, especially mothers and fathers trust in homeopathy and hope for a gentle therapy for their family“, explains Christian Elspas of the TK in NRW a current balance sheet of the TK Homeopathy Contract.

Already since July 2007 the agreement of the TK runs with the German central association of homeopathic physicians (DZVhÄ). In total, around 220 doctors in NRW take the homeopathic diploma of the DZVhÄ in the care. The therapy includes a detailed first patient history, homeopathic analysis and drug selection, follow-up anamnesis and specific homoeopathic counseling. The costs of homeopathic medicines prescribed by the doctor are also reimbursable by TK, since 2012 this is a voluntary statutory benefit of the health insurance company. For this a maximum amount of 100 Euro per year and patient is available.
