E-joints with cannabis legal in France?
Cannabis e-cigarette in France from January on the market
17/12/2014
In France, KanaVape has developed an e-cigarette for vaporizing cannabis extracts. This offers the opportunity to cannabinoids of hemp - except the psychoactive THC - to enjoy legal, advertises the company on its website. However, according to media reports, the French Ministry of Health has already intervened, and at least legality remains in doubt until a judicial settlement is reached.
From the beginning of next year, the cannabis e-cigarette will be marketed by KanaVape, which uses a liquid that is made from THC-free hemp with a maximum of five percent cannabidiol (CBD). The latter is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that users do not „high“ but helps to relax, explains KanaVape. The French government has, according to the announcement of the broadcaster „RTL“ However, sharp criticism expressed and is expected to proceed legally against the product. Health Minister Marisol Touraine has announced that it will seek a ban on cannabis e-cigarettes by court order.
Minister of Health against distribution of cannabis e-cigarettes
„I am against the idea that such a product may be marketed in France“, cited „RTL“ the French Minister of Health. The cannabis e-cigarette is fueling drug use and its distribution should therefore be banned in the opinion of the Minister in France. Here, the manufacturer's claims that the cannabis e-cigarettes have no narcotic-like effects also help a little. Because the Minister is - similar to various drug experts - assume that adolescents and young adults through the use of cannabis e-cigarette would have a lower inhibition threshold for the consumption of normal joints or psychoactive cannabis. Cited here „RTL“ the drug expert Laurent Karila, who explains that the evaporator, of course, as an electronic joint or e-joint will be perceived. So there was the fear that more young people would be encouraged to cannabis consumption. The inference is the closer because for some years also in the consumption of the „real“ Cannabis increasingly on so-called vaporizers, so electronic vaporizers, is used.
Release of cannabis not only for medical purposes
The two founders of KanaVape have, according to their own statements, put years into the development of the product, referring to thousands of years of positive use of hemp. „More recently, research has shown how this plant can help people improve their quality of life“, so the message of the company on. In fact, cannabis is now widely used in many countries around the world and some countries have opted for full legalization, including the release of THC-containing cannabis. (Fp)
