DGE recommends balanced nutrition
The typical Western diet consists of about. 50% carbohydrates. Depending on the type of low carb diet, this percentage can be reduced to theoretically zero, which is only recommended in exceptional cases. The German Society for Nutrition (DGE) advises in principle to a diet that focuses on carbohydrates and is balanced. That's not what happens with the low-crab diet. The increase in industrialized countries is usually attributed to the high level of fat consumption. For this reason, many diets recommended by dieticians contain a reduced amount of fat. The DGE recommends a daily intake of a maximum of 60 to 70 grams of fat. The energy supply should be replaced in this diet by carbohydrates or proteins.
A study by the Department of Medicine at George Washington University found that people who used a low-fat vegan diet averaged 6.5 kilos, while the conventional group consumed only 3.1 kilograms. Another effect was the positive influence on the development of diabetes mellitus type 2. Overall, it is shown that the energy input is the main factor in influencing the body weight.
