Diet Research Who omits the breakfast, supports the weight loss
To lose weight on the breakfast?
The statement that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for people trying to lose weight, does not seem to apply. Previously, people who ate a balanced breakfast in the morning were said to be more successful than people who did not consume breakfast at all, but an Australian research team is now coming to a different conclusion.
Researchers at Monash University in Melbourne found in a review of studies that our morning breakfast does not seem to be a good weight loss strategy. The experts published the results of their study in the English language journal "British Medical Journal" (BMJ).

The British Dietetic Association (BDA) had previously suggested that breakfast should provide people with balanced breakfasts, making it less likely to develop overweight and making it easier for overweight people to lose weight compared to those who skip breakfast. However, the new review raises doubts about this statement.
13 studies were reviewed
Researchers at Monash University in Australia studied a total of 13 studies on breakfast and weight in high-income countries. The results showed a very small weight difference between those who ate breakfast and people who did not, say the scientists. On average, people who skipped breakfast were 0.44 kg lighter.
On average, breakfast people eat 260 calories more
When people ate breakfast, they ate an average of 260 more calories per day. The people who skipped breakfast did not even out these calories later in the day, explain the physicians. The researchers found no significant difference in metabolic rates between breakfasters and subjects leaving out breakfast. This indicates that there is no evidence that breakfast leads to weight loss.
Breakfast is not a good weight loss strategy
The current study suggests that eating breakfast is not a good weight loss strategy, regardless of the established breakfast habit. Caution is advised when adult breakfast is recommended for weight loss as this may have the opposite effect, the authors of the study explain.
More studies are needed on the subject
More high-quality, randomized, controlled trials are needed to determine if people who want to lose weight should skip breakfast. However, some studies show that people who eat breakfast tend to be healthier. But it does not lead to clear benefits if you only have breakfast for weight loss, say the experts. The study shows that simple breakfast is not a magic diet for weight loss.
The breakfast can be a healthy balanced meal
If you are one of those people who enjoy breakfast in the morning, pay close attention to what you eat. Breakfast has the potential to be a well-balanced meal. A simple breakfast of wholegrain muesli and milk, along with a glass of unsweetened fruit juice, provides protein, fiber and a range of vitamins and minerals. If you are one of those people who can not have breakfast early in the morning, prepare a healthy breakfast at home and then take it to work. This is much better for your diet and health than buying a chocolate bun and a latte, for example, as you go hungry during the day. (As)
