These are the summer calorie bombs
Beware of hip gold: Summer is the darling calorie
08/07/2013
Especially in the summer on hot days, the small cool downs such as ice cream, sodas or the cool beer enjoy great popularity. Ice cream is usually very high in calories. One reason why it is one of the sweets and should take only in small portions, advises Antje Gahl of the German Nutrition Society (DGE).
Fruit ice cream and sorbets as an alternative
"Sorbets and fruit ice cream, however, have a little less calories than milk ice.“ "If cream, chocolate sauce or brittle comes along, it will be even more high-calorie" says the expert. For example, the difference in the same amount of strawberry ice cream and lemon sorbet is 60 kcal. With chocolate milk ice even 80 kcal.
Iced coffee is not better
An iced coffee, especially in the ice cream parlor, is not necessarily a figure friendlier alternative. Here you should exercise caution. The coffee is usually served with sugar, milk, cream and of course a scoop of ice cream. A standard serving comes to 200 grams and weighs an average of 216 kcal. According to Gahl, however, ready-made coffee drinks from the supermarket are no alternative. They are always sweetened with sugar and should not be consumed daily. So a 250-gramme mug comes to 150-200 calories. Actually, coffee is calorie-free.
Alcoholic drinks are rich in calories
For many, a freshly tapped beer or a glass of wine spritzer is the perfect refreshment. But even here Gahl advises caution: Alcoholic drinks are not thirst quenching and also quite caloriehaltig.“ So half a liter of wheat beer is a proud 190 kcal. A simple Pils 0.3 liters has at least 126 kcal. Wines and lemonades cut similarly unfavorable. So a 0.2-liter glass of dry white wine comes to good144 kcal. The same amount of wine spritzer consumes about 74 kcal.
Sodas on the top places
Not the latest knowledge but always worth mentioning: 0.3 liter of coke come to 141 kcal. With a volume of 0.3 liters of lemonade you take in about 153 kcal. In contrast, apple juice spritzer contains only 72kcal for the same amount. The nutrition expert therefore recommends using water and unsweetened herbal tea to avoid calories.
Obesity continues on the rise
Obesity continues to spread in the population. According to the last health monitoring of the Robert Koch Institute 67% of men and 53% of women are overweight. Seventy overweight with a tendency to obesity show 23 percent of men and 24 percent of women. In the lower education groups, obesity is more prevalent in upper education groups. Especially in women, this difference stands out signified. (Fr)
