Little good marks for Colorshampoos in an investigation of the Stiftung Warentest

03/04/2012

Colorshampoos promise protection against fading and optimal care of dyed hair. For this, the customer has to grab something deeper into his purse. The fact that one can save the money frequently, has now revealed Stiftung Warentest.

Baby shampoo as good as Colorshampoos
So that dyed hair does not lose its shine and color intensity, the Germans can cost their care products a lot. Special color shampoos promise „long-lasting color gloss“ and „longer color brilliance. "Stiftung Warentest has now tested 16 color shampoos and came to a sobering result.

The special shampoos are advertised with ingredients such as UV filters, the „before fading“ protect, for example, grapeseed oil, acai fruit pulp or an "innovative color complex" promise. According to Stiftung Warentest, however, the shampoos all have one thing in common: they bring nothing. All tested products are with „inadequate“ have been evaluated, the consumer advocates report. The origin - discounters or hairdressers - does not matter. To compare the color shampoos a baby shampoo was used. Sad result: the hair fades with the color protection shampoos just as fast as with the baby care product, explains Stiftung Warentest. The hair would lose color with every hair wash. This is even stronger under sunlight. None of the ingredients advertised showed the promised effect.

Microbiological quality in all but one shampoo „very well“
The product „Sanotint“ was particularly negative in the test. The shampoo contained too many and possibly pathogenic germs when first opened. All other shampoos convinced but with the microbiological quality. Stiftung Warentest reports that all but up „Sanotint“ in this point with „very well“ were evaluated. On average, the color shampoos have done worse than shampoos for damaged hair. Many of the tested products are in terms of care properties only with „satisfying“ been evaluated.

To have something as long as possible of the hair color, Stiftung Warentest advises to protect the hair with a hat from intense sun and rinse with fresh water after bathing in the sea. In addition, the consumer advocates recommend, at least now and again, to refrain from washing their hair every day. Because daily hair washing strain the hair.

A lot of chemistry in shampoos
It is well known that traditional shampoos are made from a veritable chemical cocktail. When looking at the list of ingredients, this becomes clear. The main ingredients for water are often skin-irritating sodium laureth sulfates, so-called surfactants.

Even with the active ingredients, it is indeed in advertising „natural ingredients“, However, these are usually present only in very small quantities. Consumer advocates are particularly critical of the use of some preservatives in shampoos. Some manufacturers use agents that are suspected to be harmful to their health. People with sensitive scalp should therefore resort to mild shampoos. As a proven home remedy for dry, itchy scalp is olive oil. (Ag)
