Chile First miners back home
The first miners from Chile are already back home and have already left the hospital
The first miners who spent 69 days in the San José Mine have been released from the clinic and are back with their families. A total of three rescued miners left the hospital and were transported from the hospital by minibus, according to the Chilean newspaper La Tercera. Even more miners can leave the hospital today, as the doctors report on site.
The 33 miners had survived the martyrdom under ground health almost intact. After the first research, it was found that almost all are amazingly agile and fit. Only one single miner, according to reports, has contracted pneumonia. Underground, according to initial reports, an almost dramatic situation had arisen. As one miner said after his rescue: "We waited for death, we disappeared, we were so thin". By the time the first food arrived, the pals had to feed on two teaspoons of tuna a day. Some have lost up to 15 kg. (sb, 16.10.2010)
