The company Wilhelm Brandenburg GmbH & Co. OHG from Frankfurt / Main has started a callback for various sausages. The products sold by Rewe and Penny may contain traces of a cleaning fluid. The company advises against consuming the goods affected by the recall.

The company Wilhelm Brandenburg GmbH & Co. OHG from Frankfurt am Main, which belongs to the Rewe trading group, recalls various sausage products (serving and self-service goods). The products sold by Rewe and Penny may contain traces of a cleaning fluid.

Traces of a cleaning fluid

Großmetzgerei explains on their website: "Due to a technical defect, the smallest traces of a cleaning liquid can have gotten into the following Wilhelm Brandenburg products":

Self goods:
* Wilhelm Brandenburg beer ham 100 g; MHD 25.10. 2017 to 06.11.2017
* Wilhelm Brandenburg hunting sausage 100 g; MHD 27.10. 2017 to 06.11.2017
* Wilhelm Brandenburg cold cuts trio 100 g; MHD 26.10.2017 to 06.11.2017
* Wilhelm Brandenburg Meat Cheese roughly 100 g; MHD 26.10.2017 to 03.11.2017

Goods (beer ham, hunting sausage, meat cheese coarse), which was purchased in the period from 09.10.2017 to 26.10.2017, is also affected by the recall.

No immediate health hazard

As reported by the "lebensmittelwarnung.de" portal of the federal states and the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety, a total of 14 out of 16 federal states are affected - not including Schleswig-Holstein and the Saarland.

According to the company, the products pose no immediate health risk. Customers are still advised not to consume the product concerned.

"Customers can return the goods in the respective market. You get the purchase price refunded, "writes the meat manufacturer.

The affected products were taken out of the sale.

Food production can lead to contamination due to errors in the production processes. It was not until July that Rewe had started a milk recall for detergents. (Ad)
