New merger of the BKK on the spot: New health insurance promises no additional contributions to raise.

20.01.2011

After numerous mergers of health insurance now announces another merger. The "BKK vor Ort" headquartered in Bochum plans to merge with the "Dräger & Hanse BKK". Both Boards of Directors have already approved a merger. While the northern German "Dräger & Hanse BKK" already agreed on January 1, 2010, a possible merger, the cash colleagues yesterday made a positive decision from Bochum accordingly. The new health insurance funds should then bear the common name "BKK on site".

The fifth largest company health insurance fund is created
As a spokesman confirmed yesterday, it hopes now a timely approval by the Federal Insurance Office. Currently around 620,000 people are insured at the "BKK vor Ort". In the much smaller box office „Dräger & Hanse BKK“ Around 150,000 people are legally insured. The merger creates the fifth largest company health insurance in Germany. Important for the insured: Both management boards of the company funds have decided not to levy an additional contribution from the contributing members either in 2011 or in the coming year 2012.

Not the only association of the BKK on site
As early as last October, BKK on the ground, BKK Energie in Nuremberg and BKK Westfalen-Lippe formed a merger. According to the BKK, the company currently has 67 locations with more than 1200 employees. The currently estimated budget of the fund is around 1.6 billion euros. A closure of existing branches is currently excluded. "In the course of the merger, no locations will be abandoned, but new ones will be added, and we are happy that all employees will be taken over and we will be able to provide a safe and good job for 1,500 people," said Ludger Hamers, Chairman of the Board of BKK on site.

Mergers protect health insurances from crises
More and more, especially smaller health insurance companies are making mergers in order to be financially better positioned in the future. A large health insurance company can respond much better to unforeseen developments within the membership structure. Even with doctors and pharmaceutical companies, better bargaining positions can be achieved due to the size and volume of sales. For example, the health insurance companies can avoid the unpopular additional contributions, which ultimately leads to a potential loss of members. (Sb)
