21.03.2011
Physician attempts abortion with his lover and takes not only the loss of the child but also the mother's purchase. The Coburg district court today sentenced the accused physician Jens K. (41) to 10 years in prison for attempting to kill him in peril of dangerous bodily harm and attempted abortion.
With a blood-thinning remedy that secretly poured his lover into the tea, Jens K. apparently wanted to bring about the termination of the pregnancy and thus keep the affair secret from his wife. Since not only the unborn child but also his lover could have died, condemned the district court Coburg the man for attempted murder in coincidence with dangerous bodily injury and attempted abortion to ten years in prison.
Physician denies accusation of secret abortion
The doctor had always denied administering the blood-thinning drugs to his lover, but the circumstances apparently convinced the court of his guilt. After the man's mistress became pregnant and refused to stop, she noted increased bleeding of her nose and gums, and went to hospital without any idea. Here, the responsible physicians found extremely striking blood values and stabilized the blood clotting. Already in July 2007, the woman then gave birth to a healthy child. However, the blood-thinning drugs that were administered to her could cause severe damage and malformation of the fetus as well as internal bleeding in the pregnant woman herself. Despite difficult evidence, the court was convinced that the 41-year-old doctor had secretly mixed the drugs with his lover in the tea in order to achieve a termination of the pregnancy against the will of his girlfriend.
Doctor receives ten years imprisonment for attempted murder
Now, the doctor from Thuringia has been imprisoned for ten years, if the revision already announced by his lawyer is unsuccessful. Thus, while the court remains slightly below the required by the prosecutor's twelve years sentence, but made a clear sign against such unscrupulous action. That the physician apparently wanted to use his health-care expertise to obliterate lives in order to cover up his personal misconduct merits a particularly harsh sentence in the court's opinion. According to the verdict, the defendant must also pay € 20,000 compensation to his former lover. (Fp)
