Nigerians with Ebola Suspicion on Quarantine Station
In Spain, a Nigerian, according to a message from the news agency dpa suspected of a possible Ebola infection in the quarantine ward of a hospital in the resort of Alicante has been brought. According to the health authorities, the African had visited a clinic in the port city in the southeast of the country because of a fever. There, the doctors noted symptoms of a possible Ebola infection. The doctors then transferred the man, who had recently traveled to his home country, to a specialist clinic.
Early symptoms may also indicate other illnesses
Now laboratory tests have to show if the man really suffers from the dangerous infectious disease. Early symptoms of viral disease, such as fever or diarrhea, can also be caused by a number of other conditions, such as malaria. On Tuesday, a Spanish clergyman had died of Ebola in Madrid. The priest had been infected with the virus in Liberia and had been flown to Spain for treatment. In Germany, in recent days in two suspected cases of Ebola in Hamburg and Frankfurt were given an all-clear.
Germans asked to leave
The World Health Organization (WHO) had announced on Friday evening that by August 13, a total of 2,127 Ebola infections and 1,145 deaths were recorded. The cases were reported from the disease-affected countries of Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea and Nigeria. However, according to WHO estimates, actual case numbers are likely to be significantly higher. The federal government recently called on all Germans to leave the countries affected by the epidemic.
