Which statutory health insurance offers the best service and the lowest additional contribution?

06/11/2014

The health insurances have to face more competitive pressure from 1 January 2015. From next year, every statutory health insurance fund will have the option of making an additional contribution due to the statutory health insurance financial reform in order to cover its financial needs. In addition to this additional contribution, insured persons who wish to change their sickness should also inform themselves about the range of services and the service.

Performance and service should be in the health insurance in relation to the additional contribution
On October 22, the Federal Ministry of Health announced the fixed average additional contribution. If the cash registers raise higher additional contributions, they are obliged to inform their insured which competitors offer a cheaper additional contribution. In addition, all health insurance companies must inform their members of the special right of termination from next year, provided they make an additional contribution.

For insured persons, starting in January, the question will arise as to whether the additional contribution individually charged by each health insurance fund is in relation to the service offered. If a health insurance change is planned, the customer service should be examined under the microscope.

Study on the efficiency of the health insurance companies
The German Financial Service Institute (DFSI) has carried out a study on the general performance of the statutory health insurance. The "range of services, customer satisfaction with the range of services and services as well as the financial resources of the health insurances in order to be able to maintain their offer in the future and possibly extend it" played a role in this. The evaluation was based on "a rating in the categories of financial strength, performance and customer service, each of which was weighted to one third and combined into a quality rating". In the overall ranking, Techniker Krankenkasse received the best DFSI rating of 1.0 (very good), followed by SBK with 1.2 (very good) and HEK - Hanseatische Krankenkasse with 1.4 (very good). (Ag)
