According to media reports, around 10 million legally insured persons in Germany will have to supplement their health insurance premiums this quarter. The insured must be informed by law no later than one month before the due date of the additional contribution of their health insurance.

The collection of the contributions will be a reaction of the health insurance companies to their tense financial situation. The contribution rates for the health insurance funds have been set by law in the health care reform. The health insurance funds receive a subsidy from the well-discussed community fund for those insured. Therefore, the money will be charged to the insured and not deducted from the salary. It may not exceed 1 percent of the income.

DAK, AOK Schleswig-Holstein and the German BKK want to talk about this topic in Berlin next Monday „Entry into the additional contribution“ go public and explain their financial position.

German media suspect that these funds may be the first to raise the additional contributions. So far, there are no clear findings here. The Kaufmännische Krankenkasse Hannover (KKH), advises with its Board of Directors in the period from late February to early March 2010 on the subject.

Then there is the delivery and payment of 34 million vaccine doses against the swine flu. They will be delivered by March and will cost about 300 million euros. Although almost half of the 9.6 million cans originally delivered in November are left over.

Not only industry experts warn of future additional burden of health insurance and insured by the health policy, especially the FDP faction in the Federal Government. And they are surprised that the Christian Democratic Party (CDU), which has been giving itself up as a people's party, has not yet advocated its clientele in the interests of the insured.
