Ice or ice cream is one of the popular treats, especially in the summer months. There are many different flavors available, which can be distinguished, for example, based on the basic ingredient in milk ice and water ice. Different tastes and colors of the ice cream were originally achieved mostly by fruits or vegetable ingredients such as vanilla and cocoa, but today are also available ice creams that use only artificial flavors and dyes.

From a health point of view, ice cream has to be critically evaluated for several reasons. On the one hand, this often contains a lot of sugar that attacks the teeth, and on the other hand, the high calorie content promotes the development of obesity. With so-called diet ice, these points can be largely eliminated. However, another health risk can come from the germs in the ice cream, which can get into the ice with the raw ingredients and can quickly multiply when melted. If ice melts and is subsequently frozen again, this can lead to a significant increase in the germ load - especially if the process is repeated several times. If appropriate, appropriate infections threaten to be consumed here. The hygiene deficiencies found in ice cream parlors in the past can therefore quickly become a health risk for consumers. (Fp)
