The digestive tract is formed by all the organs that feed, shred, transport and absorb food. To be precise, the oral cavity and the mouthparts are counted, but the term digestive tract in general parlance is often referred exclusively to the gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal tract). This includes the medical definition of the esophagus, the stomach, small intestine, large intestine and anus. Overall, the digestive system is a sensitive system that can easily be thrown out of balance by a variety of influences, such as an unhealthy diet, stress, infection, or taking certain medications. The consequences range from disorders of the natural intestinal flora (beneficial bacterial colonization of the intestine) and indigestion through inflammation of the mucous membranes in the stomach and intestinal area to acute emergency events such as intestinal obstruction.
The range of possible diseases of the digestive tract is extremely broad on the whole, which often makes the diagnosis extremely difficult. Thus, with the present indigestion such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting successively the possible causes of the symptoms are checked. For example, it is relatively easy to detect bacterial or parasitic infections. It is often sufficient to examine a stool sample to diagnose it. However, other diseases of the digestive tract such as Crohn's disease are significantly harder to detect, so that those affected often remain for a long time without a clear diagnosis. In addition, diseases of other internal organs can lead to symptoms that are similar to the gastrointestinal problems, making the diagnosis even more difficult. (Fp)
