Twisted testes (testicular torsion)
Testicles twisted
Testicular torsion is a two-sided or (mostly) unilateral styling of testicles and spermatic cord around its own axis. Here one speaks colloquially also of it, the testicles had twisted (twisted testicles). Infants, children and adolescents are most often affected by sudden onset and sometimes dramatic symptoms of testicular torsion.

Cause of twisted testicles
The cause of the testicular torsion is assumed to be an abnormal mobility of the testes, which is considered innate. Even unhappy movements during sports or games can cause the twisting of the testicle.
symptoms
Typical is a sudden onset pain in the affected area of the testicles, which radiates into the lower abdomen and is perceived there as abdominal pain. The testicle is sensitive to pressure, swollen and red, the pain worsens i.d.R. when lifting the testicles (negative Prehn sign). Those affected have severe testicular pain. Other possible signs of testicular torsion include nausea and vomiting, as well as fainting or loss of consciousness.
complications
If the rotation persists for too long and thus the blood supply is interrupted for several hours, this can lead to infertility and even death of the affected testicle (necrosis). The testicles may need to be removed.
therapy
Immediately the testicles should be manually returned by an experienced physician (e.g., urologist, pediatrician). If this does not succeed, surgery must be carried out as soon as possible and the affected testes removed in case of necrosis. After conventional treatment, self-healing can be supported with naturopathic medicines and natural remedies (for example, homeopathy, Bach flower therapy). (Dipl.Päd.
