causes

The term refers to both the spinal joints, as well as to the discs between the vertebrae, the intervertebral discs. It is believed that it can come to the symptoms by a poor diet of the cartilage and an inadequate burden.

For optimal nutrition of the intervertebral discs from a mechanical point of view, they require a constant change between pressure and discharge. This pump-like movement promotes the nutrition of the cartilage, which itself has no blood vessels. By staying in a sitting position for a long time, as is the case in many workplaces today, cartilage movement and nutrition are diminished. In addition, at the biochemical level metabolic processes may be disturbed, resulting in a deficient supply of nutrients necessary for optimal function.

complaints

However, it is not always clear whether or not the degenerative processes detectable by imaging techniques are responsible for complaints such as back pain or flank pain. It is also conceivable that, in parallel or as compensation, the soft tissue, in the form of muscles and fascia, tends to harden and causes discomfort such as neck tension or muscle pain.
