causes

The cause is primarily a closure of one or more (usually smaller) renal arteries in question. This is caused by a blood clot that has been transported out of the heart (renal embolism) or by a stomach injury or arteriosclerosis locally caused relocation (thrombosis) of a renal artery. Frequently already reduced kidney circulation and consequent hypertension exist, for example
Diabetes mellitus (diabetic nephropathy).

Complaints renal infarction

The extent of the complaints of the renal infarction can - depending on the size of the underserved area - lead from complete freedom from symptoms to severe impairments. At the acute renal infarction There are mainly mild to severe flank pain and renal colic, which can also cause nausea and vomiting as well as visible additions of blood in the urine. Also possible is a restriction of renal function with reduced urinary excretion (oliguria, anuria).

Treatment options and prophylaxis

In mild cases, a renal infarction heals itself and may u.U. discovered by chance in later examinations as scarring of the affected area. Conventionally, the drug is symptom-reducing and treated with antibiotics, in particular to prevent kidney abscess in bacterial colonization of the dead renal area. The further therapy depends on the underlying diseases, especially the cardiovascular system (CHD, high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia, diabetes) and should include prophylactic measures to prevent "vascular calcifications" (arteriosclerosis).

Naturopathy

Naturally, after a recognized renal infarction by permanent dietary measures discharge and improved blood circulation can be achieved. The diet should be switched to potassium rich, low sodium diets with whole grains, vegetable and fruit juices. Saline should be avoided as far as possible and, if well tolerated, two to three days of raw food should be introduced. Also recommended is the juniper berry cure according to Sebastian Kneipp, in which for renal detoxification and blood purification a daily increasing and later descending number of juniper berries is chewed. Garlic may also be used as another well-known means of preventing vascular calcification. (Dipl. Päd. J. Viñals Stein, non-medical practitioner)
