Chronic pain fibromyalgia

One symptom that keeps on haunting the media and medical institutions in Germany is fibromyalgia. Above all, it is chronic pain that characterizes these symptoms. Those affected are often happy that their symptoms finally have a name after an odyssey of examinations and fruitless treatments, but many also feel stigmatized.

Symptoms and complaints in fibromyalgia

Those affected complain of pulling, burning pain along the extremities and back. This causes her to complain about back pain, flank pain, backache and backache. In addition, sufferers often state that it's not just the pain that bothers them, but also a loss of strength. It could also lead to cramping, swelling and discomfort such as burning, tingling and ants running and especially to an aggravation of the symptoms after sitting or lying down. Especially in the morning many complain about a morning "rusting", a morning stiffness, which improves after some exercise.

Symptoms that are not located on the musculoskeletal system are fatigue and chronic fatigue, concentration and sleep disorders.

Fibromyalgia and therapy

According to the German Fibromyalgia Association (DFV) e.V., more and more people affected by fibromyalgia are using natural remedies and alternative methods. According to them, methods such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), body therapies, homeopathy and nutritional changes in DFV are mentioned.

Alternatively, dark field microscopy with subsequent environmental therapy can be cited as effective in the past. As a rule, in the blood an acidification of the tissue as well as abnormalities in the immune function appear. With medicines that are named after the founder Dr. Enderlein are mainly made from fungi or bacteria, the body milieu should be changed and the cause of the disease can be eliminated. Formic acid preparations or powdered mushroom therapy (mycotherapy) can also be beneficial.

Manual body therapy

A manual body therapy that takes into account the body language and statements of fibromyalgia sufferers is the Fascial Distortion Model (FDM). Here one sees the drawing burning pain and the weakness of the patients as chronic twists of the connective tissue (trigger tapes) with adhesions of the fasciae. The convulsions and sensations are seen as twists of the superficial spiral turns of the fascia - so-called cylinder distortions. They are also treated over a large area and should be brought back into the physiological form. On the other hand, in the case of the trigger tapes, in the opinion of the FDM, the bonds must first of all be loosened so that they can then be corrected again by a thumbing technique. Stiffness is called tectonic fixation (TF). Similar to the Wizard of Oz's "Tin Man", lack of lubricity and fluidity leads to restraints and stiffness (stiff neck, stiff neck). These symptoms are treated last, as they are mostly seen as a consequence of the other fascial distorsions.

Another manual body therapy is called Rolfing or Structural Integration (SI). The general statics and the tension of the body for treatment and diagnosis are consulted. Also, the all-spanning and pulling through connective tissue network of the body with the fascia is processed manually. It should be made again slippery and adaptable to compensate for the occurrence of discomfort and to be able to function physiologically again.

The same is true of osteopathy. In osteopathy, there is a wide range of approaches and methods. In fibromyalgia, some osteopaths, who are often very craniosacral oriented, are more likely to see an organism response to trauma or stress. In order to bring the nervous system back into balance or to make the trauma processable for the organism, one works with mostly gentle techniques all over the body and more often on the head.

There are also osteopathic approaches that work with painful points, the so-called trigger points and approaches that see the free mobility of the affected organism restricted and see as the cause of the complaints. (Thorsten Fischer, Naturopath Osteopathy)
