Dyslipidemia
Dyslipidemia
Lipid metabolism disorders are among the most prevalent with diabetes Metabolic Diseases. The disorders of the lipid metabolism may remain asymptomatic for those affected, but are considered risk factors for diseases of the heart and circulation, which in turn are considered the most common cause of illness and death in Germany.

Fat metabolism disorders are a significant burden on the body in the long termCauses lipid metabolism disorder
One differentiates between primary and secondary lipid metabolism disorders. For example, primary means that the metabolic disease (e.g., citizen-Grütz syndrome) is congenitally caused by a gene disorder. Primary fat metabolism disorders are divided into five subcategories. Secondary means that the metabolic disorder is based on another disease or by taking certain medications.
This can be, for example, as mentioned above, diabetes. Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid gland), massive overweight (obesity), diseases of the liver, the nephrotic syndrome, the metabolic syndrome or pancreatitis can also trigger lipid metabolism disorders. Also drugs such as corticosteroids, dehydrating agents (diuretics) or contraceptives (oral contraceptives) come into question. Naturopathy recommends to limit the intake of fatty foods and alcohol.
Complaints and symptoms
Mostly, fat metabolism disorders do not cause any direct symptoms. It often comes secondarily to complaints, in that it comes to deposits on the vessel walls (arteriosclerosis). This leads to complaints that are dependent on the location of arteriosclerotic changes. In the heart, it can come to the so-called chest tightness (angina pectoris), with chest pain, which can sometimes pull into the left arm or cause shoulder pain on the left side. A fatty liver can cause abdominal pain in the right upper abdomen.
Directly it can come to yellow-brown nodules or knots on the Achilles tendon, the eyelids (Xanthelasmen), in the buttocks region, between the fingers or at the elbow and also to the so-called opacification ring around the cornea at the eye (Arcus lipoides). Partial pancreatitis (pancreatitis) is possible. Narrowing the vessels on the extremities (arms and legs) can lead to numbness, tingling, ants, spasmodic complaints to the legs during prolonged exercise (intermittent claudication).
