Most constipation is based on an unhealthy, low-fiber diet. Similarly, a low intake is often the cause of constipation. Lack of exercise, stress, hormonal changeover phases, but also mental problems or climatic conditions are among the possible causes.
Healthy eating
In case of constipation, the diet should first be reconsidered. Is the food really high in fiber? Are enough fruits and vegetables eaten? What does the liquid consumption look like? If enough still water drunk?
Move
Constipation can result from lack of exercise. Regular exercise stimulates the bowel movement and helps to keep the intestinal muscles relaxed, which can easily lead to constipation. Fifteen minutes of exercise a day is enough to counteract constipation.
Foods can help
Certain foods can help with constipation. Home remedy for this are raw sauerkraut, over night soaked dried fruit, such as apricots, prunes or figs, and legumes. A muesli with fresh fruit, enriched with a spoonful of bran or milk sugar and mixed with natural yoghurt, is not only a healthy start to the day, but can also make the lazy intestine legs and facilitate a completely natural discharge. The consumption of grapes or a large piece of watermelon can also be helpful. For regular bowel movements also provides a slice of fresh pineapple, which is eaten after each meal.

A tablespoon of bran or flaxseed adds extra help. It is important to remember that enough water is drunk at the same time. Milk sugar is also a gentle home remedy, but only if there is no lactose intolerance. The milk sugar is stirred in liquid or in yoghurt or muesli.
Liquid to dissipate
Different juices can facilitate the discharge, such as drinking naturally cloudy pear or apple juice. Plum juice is a helpful home remedy, but it should only be consumed in small amounts as it can easily lead to diarrhea. A cup of buttermilk in the morning on an empty stomach can bring the desired success. Also mixed three times daily a tablespoon of radish or dandelion juice from the health food store in a little water and then drunk after meals, is not necessarily delicious, but can affect the digestive system positively.
It is not easy for everyone to swallow pure olive oil, but it can make intestinal transit easier. The effect is enhanced when the oil is enriched with peppercorns a few days before use. Also effective is a glass of warm water, mixed with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of honey. The whole thing is best drunk sober. Even mineral water can have an effect, because the carbon dioxide contained in it has a positive effect on the intestinal movements. This is best mixed with some nature cloudy apple juice.
Coffee drinkers generally suffer less from constipation than those who refuse the black drink, as coffee generally stimulates digestion.
Psyllium is a natural and effective alternative to traditional laxatives. (Image: farfalla2017 / fotolia.com)roughage
The fiber that boosts the intestines and that can help with the removal include psyllium, linseed, and wheat bran. Above all, it is important that you always drink enough when taking these natural laxatives. Psyllium are among the so-called swelling agents. These swell in conjunction with water and increase in this way the intestinal contents. Sprinkle two teaspoons of this seed in a little water and drink with two large glasses of water. Depending on your needs, the drink can be taken in the morning and additionally in the evening.
Flax seeds are also among the swelling agents. These release mucous substances that increase the volume in the intestine. In addition, flax seeds still contain linseed oil, which facilitates the intestinal passage. One to two tablespoons of flaxseed meal are stirred in a little water and drunk after swelling. You should also drink one or two glasses of water.
warmth
Heat releases tension, as well as cramps, which are located in the intestinal tract. A hot water bottle or a warmed Kirschkernkissen placed on the stomach, can sometimes stimulate the digestion and help with the removal.
Cold wrap
Even cold wraps can help with the removal. For this purpose, a cotton cloth in cold water, which should have a temperature between 18 ° C and 25 ° C, dipped and then wrung out. This is placed on the stomach. On top of that come a second, slightly larger cotton cloth and over it a woolen cloth. The whole thing stays there as long as it is comfortable for those affected, but for a maximum of half an hour.
abdominal massage
A simple home remedy for the removal is the abdominal massage. With a warmed-up oil, for example, an olive oil that has been enriched with a few drops of essential fennel or caraway oil, the stomach is massaged clockwise. This massage takes a few minutes and can be done several times a day, preferably before getting up.

Riding a bike in a supine position, ideally already in the morning before getting up, can get the intestines going as a gymnastics exercise. Another exercise is as follows: Also in the supine position, the right leg is first bent and pulled close to the body for a few seconds. Then this is done with the left leg and finally with both legs. The whole thing is repeated several times in succession. This exercise is best done before getting up.
Inlet for removal
A quick home remedy for removal is the enema. An in-feed set with detailed instructions can be purchased at any pharmacy. This method is of course not for everyone, but helps quickly and above all with success. However, the enema is not a permanent solution. The causes of constipation must be investigated in any case.
Herbs for constipation
Some herbs are promising home remedies for removing. However, be careful here. These herbs should only be used for a short time, preferably only for one day. They are by no means suitable for prolonged use. These herbs include especially senna leaves and the buckthorn bark. They are often mixed with anise, fennel or cumin, as these are plants that have an antispasmodic effect.
A "laxative mixture" consists of, for example, a three-finger gift (the one that fits between the thumb, index and middle fingers), senna leaves and caraway seeds. The caraway must first be lightly pounded with a mortar so that the essential oils can develop their effect.
Another mixture is made from buckthorn bark and fennel. Again, the three-finger gift is applicable. Each of the herbs should be infused with 250 milliliters of boiling water and allowed to stand still after about seven minutes. Of the tea, no more than three cups should be drunk throughout the day. After that, the desired effect is often expected.
Those who are prone to constipation should, for certain foods, such as Bananas, chocolate and white flour products. (Photo: exclusive-design / fotolia.com)preventive
In order not to get constipation at all or need home remedies for removing, stuffing foods, such as bananas, chocolate, white flour products and sweets should be reduced or eaten only in moderation. The diet should be rich in fiber and attention should be paid to adequate hydration with still water and herbal tea. Also, rhythms are important, meaning the daily walk to the toilet at the same time to get used to the gut.
Babies, children, pregnant women
Home remedies are not suitable for babies. For infants and older children, the diet and the amount of fluid should first be checked. Appropriate home remedies should be discussed with the pediatrician or alternative practitioner. Even pregnant women should not resort to arbitrary methods of discharge. Here helps the conversation with the midwife.
If the home remedies do not help to remove
If home remedies do not help, be sure to call a doctor. Especially chronic constipation must be clarified. However, this does not mean that subsequently a drug or even surgical treatment is required. For example, acupuncture, foot reflexology and TCM are known as alternative methods of treating constipation successfully. (sw, updated on 4.10.2017)
