What should we look for in the sports business
The baggy sweatpants have had their day. Nowadays, athletes wear functional clothing that is close to the body, breathable and looks fashionable. The selection appears difficult to overlook. The expert Markus Ryffel spoke with the internet portal "20min.ch" about materials and cuts of functional clothing. He advises outdoor athletes on the onion peel principle.
Athletes are well advised with three layers of functional clothing
In sports shops, the selection of sportswear is great. Almost every manufacturer now offers trousers, shirts and jackets made of high-tech fibers. Thanks to their elasticity, they nestle perfectly against the body, are often breathable and keep outdoor athletes comfortable even in cool temperatures.
Ryffel recommends the bulb bowl principle especially for outdoor sports such as running or hiking. "Several thin layers let the sweat evaporate. The air between the individual layers isolates the cold. "Depending on the weather, you should wear two or three layers on top of each other. At the bottom of the transport layer is worn, which conducts the sweat of the athlete to the outside, so that the skin remains dry. In this way, the tight-fitting clothing regulates the temperature. T-shirt, pants or sports bra should not be cut. Particularly suitable are seamless garments, through which no unpleasant friction on the skin can arise.
Sportswear should not be made of pure cotton
Over the transport layer, the heat layer is worn, which protects against cold and UV radiation. It should be cut a little further, as it gives the more heat, the more air between the two layers. In cool weather, for example, vests, jackets or sweaters are used. According to Ryffel, Qutdoor athletes should never give up headgear, regardless of the weather.
The conclusion of the onion peel look is the insulating layer. It should protect against rain and wind and at the same time guide the sweat outwards. This is why materials made of light and breathable plastics are particularly suitable for this.
In general, athletes should refrain from using construction materials because they absorb the sweat. It threatens colds, especially at cooler temperatures. (Ag)
