Danger for cats and dogs
The virus disease known as pseudo-outbreaks appears to spread among boars in the district of Haßberge (Bavaria). The district office in the Lower Franconian city of Haßfurt had already warned after confirming the first case that even small and large ruminants could become infected. In addition, the disease represents a danger to cats and dogs dar. Infectious, it is primarily for pigs.

"For humans, however, the virus on the current level of knowledge is safe, so there is no danger from the consumption of processed and durchgegarten wild boar products," it says in a statement.

Pet owners are called for caution
As reported by the "Bayerischer Rundfunk" (BR), two wild boars that had become infected have now been reported.

"Anyone who keeps susceptible animals and, of course, domestic pigs, is now being warned to take precautionary measures to prevent the pets from becoming infected," the district says.

For example, dogs should not be in contact with dead or live boars. In addition, neither raw meat from wild boar nor offal to dogs or cats should be fed. "Diseased dogs usually die from an infection," warn the experts. (Ad)
