At the heartbeats taking place regularly in the autumn, this year's focus is on the topic of heart attack and its underlying disease, coronary heart disease (CHD). Nationwide, numerous events take place on this occasion in which health experts inform about the subject.
Six million Germans suffer from coronary heart disease
On the occasion of the Herzwochen, which will be held until November 30th, interested parties can use the free events of the German Heart Foundation nationwide. The focus of this year's action weeks, which are organized under the motto "Heart in danger", is the topic of heart attack and its underlying disease, coronary heart disease (CHD). Avoid life-threatening consequences
With around 350,000 deaths annually, cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in Germany. The main risk factors include smoking, overweight or obesity, lack of exercise and stress. Also unhealthy diet with a lot of fat plays a significant role. In many cases, the life-threatening consequences of CHD could be avoided by timely detection and treatment. As part of the Herzwochen, health experts explain, among other things, how heart disease develops and what can be done to prevent it.
"Most frequent cause of death in western industrialized countries"
One of these events will be held in Bad Oldesloe next Wednesday. As the "Sormarner Tageblatt" reports, this is carried out by the German Heart Foundation in cooperation with the Asklepios Clinic, the Barmer GEK and the "Sormarner Tageblatt". "The heart attack is despite improved medical measures still the most frequent cause of death in the western industrialized countries", explained Ralf Klesch, district managing director of the Barmer GEK in bath Oldesloe opposite the newspaper. By early detection, prevention and new therapies, however, he can be prevented in many cases. The cause of the infarction is a vascular occlusion, which is usually due to vascular calcification (arteriosclerosis).
Causes and symptoms
Dr. Agnes Wolny, Senior Internal Medicine at the Asklepios Clinic, will speak at the event about the many causes and factors that damage the heart. Furthermore, the doctor will educate visitors to the Health Forum about the symptoms of CHD and how best to prevent them. The chief physician of cariology, dr. Frank Hennersdorf, will bring heart catheters and stents, so that visitors can take a look at these devices. So many good ideas that help inform people about the important topic. (Ad)
