When the heart has arrhythmias. The German Heart Foundation organizes events on cardiovascular diseases every November

The German Heart Foundation organizes events on cardiovascular diseases every November. The occasion of this year's information event is the topic cardiac arrhythmia.

Almost everyone knows cardiac arrhythmias. If there are no pre-existing conditions, such arrhythmias become too „Herzstolpern“ Called (palpitations). Such cardiac arrhythmias are mostly without significant findings and are caused by so-called extra beats of the heart. Many cardiac arrhythmias are completely harmless and normal in themselves, while others may be indicative of severe heart disease. Therefore, arrhythmia of the heart should always be clarified by a specialist to rule out serious diseases.

The heart specialists of the Schwetzingen-based GRN Clinic want to provide detailed information on the dangers, symptoms and possible illness on Wednesday, November 10 at 6 pm with the support of the self-help group "Heart Diseases". Invited is Prof. Dr. med. Bernd Waldecker, Chief Physician of the Department of Internal Medicine I. In his lecture "Herz aus dem Takt", the physician will inform interested parties about the complex topic of arrhythmias and answer questions.

Dr. In his presentation Bernd Waldecker will explain about cardiac arrhythmias, their causes, symptoms, consequences and treatment options. The physician will first report on the slow heart rate. Following Waldecker reports on the extremely uncomfortable for patients atrial fibrillation as well as extra bumps which can also be extremely dangerous. In the second part, the heart specialist will report on possible medical treatments such as the implementation of a pacemaker or a defibrillator. Another focus is on new drugs that dilute the blood. Finally, valuable information will be provided on the possibilities of lay resuscitation with publicly available electrodefibrillation equipment.

Visitors to the event will then have the opportunity to ask individual questions and discuss the work of the self-help group „heart disease“ to inform. The event will take place in Schwetzingen, Bodelschwinghstraße 10 and will start on 10th November at 6pm. It is not necessary to register for the event "Herz aus dem Takt".

Heart disease is still the leading cause of death in Germany. Due to an unhealthy lifestyle, too little exercise and too much stress, more and more people are suffering from cardiovascular diseases. A timely countermeasure, for example through sports and a healthy, wholesome diet, can reduce the risk of hypertension or heart attack. (sb, 06.11.2010)
