The availability of homeopathic remedies in Germany and Europe is decreasing

Homeopathic remedies, together with other special forms of therapy, have been granted explicit special status in the pharmaceutical legislation in national and European legislation, which helps to ensure their existence. „Nevertheless, the availability of homeopathic single remedies in Germany and Europe has decreased significantly over the past ten years“, The Augsburg doctor Jörg Haberstock points this out in his lecture at the Homeopathy Congress of the German Central Association of Homeopathic Doctors (DZVhÄ) in early June in Aachen. Haberstock is a deputy member of Commission D of the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). This is particularly visible in the procurement of nosodes, „However, the entire variety of homeopathic remedies is affected“, says Haberstock. One reason for this is the increasing regulation of the placing on the market of medicines and the associated costs in relation to the expected turnover of drug manufacturers. Thus, according to information from the user alliance for the receipt of homeopathic medicines (www.aeha-buendnis.de) currently even the market leader among the German manufacturers, the important nosodes of human origin Psorinum, Carcinosinum, Medorrhinum, Bacillinum, Luesinum not available. Pharmacies increasingly cover this gap. „Nevertheless, this development is questionable for a secure future of homeopathic remedies“, is the conclusion of Jörg Haberstock.
The 161th annual conference of the DZVhÄ from 2 to 4 June in the Euro-gress, Monheimsallee 48, 52062 Aachen is under the motto „Homeopathy limitless? Borderline experiences of medical homeopathy in science and practice“. On Thursday, June 2, will take place within the Congress for the first time a Pharmacist's Day. These are topics that are particularly important for the daily work of pharmacists. For example, a seminar with role-plays about the possibilities of homeopathic advice in hand sales. (Pm)
