Transport in specially equipped cargo aircraft
Now she was flown to India on a specially equipped freighter. For this, the patient had to be hoisted by a crane on board the aircraft. According to reports, 36-year-old Eman Ahmed left her home in Alexandria for the first time in 25 years.

Previously, an Indian medical team had come to Egypt to prepare the woman for the transport.

The visa for entry had initially been denied, but when Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj was informed, she personally provided for the visa.

Many diseases due to overweight
According to a BBC report, Eman Ahmed weighed five kilograms when she was born, and when she was eleven she was only crawling because of her weight.

At that time she received the diagnosis "Elephantiasis". She also suffered a stroke and became bedridden. Her right arm and leg were paralyzed, she could not speak. The Egyptian developed various conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, gout and respiratory problems.

The Indian surgeon Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala, who wants to treat the patient for free, said: "It is a collection of diseases. She desperately needs surgery. "

Doctor treating doubts about the diagnosis
Dr. Lakdawala, however, sees the diagnosis of elephantiasis critical and suspects that the lymphedema is caused by obesity.

The patient will have to wait a little longer for the operation. "We will not operate on it for four weeks at the earliest," Dr. Lakdawala. The doctors have already done a series of tests with the patient.

Over the next few months, her weight will be reduced, among other things, with drugs against water retention and a protein-rich diet. "Alone so that the weight should be reduced by 50 to 60 kilos," said the doctor.

Four-year plan for the patient
The team does not know exactly whether it is true that the woman weighs 500 kilograms. "She was weighed five years ago and then had 330 kilograms. Her sister said she is now twice the size, "Dr. Lakdawala.

"We have worked out a four-year plan for her," said the surgeon. This includes at least two surgeries, a diet plan and physiotherapy.

In the six months after surgery, in which the patient stays in Mumbai, she could lose about 100 pounds. Dr. Lakdawala said he wanted to make sure that "Eman can travel back to Alexandria on a business class seat.".

If she has lost at least another 100 kg at home, she will return to India for another surgery.

Asked about the chances of success, the APA news agency quoted the doctor as saying, "I would be lying if I said that I was one hundred percent sure. There are many challenges, but I will try my best to help her. "(Ad)
