Feverfew helps: Chinese medicine helps to dissolve slag

Menopause is very different from woman to woman. Some complain of sweats, sleep disorders and dizzy spells, others complain of migraine, eczema, palpitations and depression. Tinnitus or blood pressure fluctuations also occur. Hot flashes usually affect all women in this difficult time. Hormones, formerly the panacea, are now in disrepute. According to Chinese medicine, they are also completely unnecessary, because menopause is not a disease, but a natural process, with a meaningful goal: to shut down estrogen production and thus reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Until ovaries lose their function during the menopause, they have done hard labor: ovulation for another 40 years after another are enough. "If no egg follicles mature, the hormonal interaction between the abdomen and the pituitary gland comes to a standstill", explains Dr. med. Christian Schmincke, TCM expert and head of the clinic at Steigerwald, what happens in the woman's body. "Estrogen levels are dropping. In the beginning, the pituitary gland tries to stimulate estrogen production by releasing hormones. In the ovaries, this succeeds less and less, but other tissues such as the fatty tissue, begin with the production of female hormones. "So completely without estrogens, the body of the woman would not look feminine. But in sum, the estrogen level drops. This makes sense, because estrogens have a strong cell-proliferating effect and thus reduces the risk of breast cancer in a natural way.

From the point of view of Chinese medicine, however, it is not this hormonal clutter that causes the menopausal symptoms but the absence of the rule as an important cleansing process. Experienced TCM experts are therefore critical of hormone replacement therapies, whether carried out with conventional or herbal medicines. "They are both side effects and often do not bring the desired benefits," explains Dr. med. Schmincke. The female cycle is characterized by the fact that it builds tissue and when no pregnancy occurs, substances degrades again. "During the menopause, the build-up is still ongoing, while the discharge runs dry. With this, slags accumulate and blood builds up. "

The therapeutic concept of Chinese medicine has therefore the goal to dissolve the juices and blood congestion and divert slag. This succeeds mainly through Chinese drug therapy. A recipe consists of raw Chinese drugs, which take patients as a decoction throughout the day. Common ingredient in menopausal symptoms is Chinese feverfew, which stimulates blood and juice circulation. "The formulas not only help against the slight symptoms, but also against climacteric eczema, palpitations, depression or sleep disorders," says Dr. med. Schmincke. Many women already bring the most extensive waiver sweets, dairy and meat relief. Even evening fasting, daily exercise in the wild or regular blood donation does some women good. (Pm)
