Married people pay more attention to precaution
Married people go to check-ups more often and more regularly. That resulted in a survey of around 2,000 people.
A marital partnership can promote good health and thus reduce the risk of dying: According to a survey, significantly more married people are taking part in medical check-ups than when compared to single people. That resulted in a survey that the „pharmacy magazine“ commissioned.
According to a survey study conducted by GfK, married people pay more attention to their health than single people. For example, only 16 percent of singles go to „Check up 35“, however, around 50 percent of married couples take part in the provision. Significant differences also exist in cancer screening. Only 14 percent of the singles said in the survey that they would be examined for colorectal cancer, but 40 percent of the spouses take the offer regularly true. Especially wives have an increased interest in their health. 57 percent of married women have a regular mammography, and only a fifth (around 20 percent) of single women also go for breast cancer screening.
Why this is so, the experts can only guess. One possible explanatory pattern could be mutual care in the partnership. For example, 72 percent of respondents said they would take care that their partner participated in the investigations. According to further studies, it is above all the women who pay attention to sufficient precaution and partly remind the men of such precautionary measures and make the appointments.
For the non-representative survey, a total of 1956 people over the age of 14 were interviewed for the purpose of carrying out preventive check-ups. (sb, 11.10.2010)
