However, insured persons must adjust to a retroactive payment of the additional contributions. The additional contribution is already expected to apply retroactively to the first of April 2011.

The allocations from the health fund are not enough, so the opinion of the guild health insurance United IKK. On Friday, the board of directors of the fund decided to introduce an additional contribution of eight euros per month or 96 euros per year. The additional contribution levied in addition to the regular health insurance premiums should become due as of April 1, 2011, ie retroactively. The additional fee will be charged quarterly, retroactively to the beginning of the second quarter of 2011, ie from April 1, 2011. The additional contribution for a quarter will be payable six weeks after the end of the quarter - for the first time on August 15 of this year for the second quarter (1. April to June 30, 2011). All in all, that's three months, that's 24 euros. The contribution has to be paid extra and will not be automatically collected by the employer as usual. A separate letter should inform all insured persons about the introduction. From this letter it is possible to terminate the health insurance due to the granted special right of termination.

Federal Insurance Office calls for active savings
Until then, the fund wants to try, however, "to seek a strategic way" to prevent the additional contribution can still. So far, the health insurance such additional contribution has rather brought losses, because many changed after announcement the cash register. Whether such „strategic option“ offers itself remains questionable. According to internal cash circles, attempts will again be made to form a merger with the IKK Classic. In the first quarter of the year, both funds had already met for exploratory talks. In the end, the IKK Classic rejected a merger due to its membership structure and poor financial position. Already in March of this year, many health economists suspected the introduction of a capitation.

Approval only with renovation concept
According to the "Ärzte Zeitung" the Federal Insurance Office (BVA) wants to agree to the introduction of an additional contribution only if the additional income is part of a comprehensive restructuring plan. In addition to financial support from the Association of the guilds, structural savings will also be made at the United IKK.
