Judgment indivisibility of the naturopathic permit?
Indivisibility of the HP permit again in danger
09/07/2014
A UK-trained chiropractor may, after a recent court ruling, take up alternative practice in Germany without a medical practitioner review and re-examination.
The Frankfurt am Main Administrative Court has ordered the city of Frankfurt am Main to grant a UK-trained chiropractor permission to practice as a naturopathic practitioner without having to retake a prior knowledge test under the Heilpraktikergesetz. The background to this verdict can be found HERE.
The BDH sees this judgment as very critical, because it will help to further undermine the indivisibility of the HP permit, which will lead to an ever greater complexity for the public. Our biggest concern is that more and more stakeholders want to use the HP law for themselves. In particular, these are those occupational groups that have training in a healing-auxiliary profession and aspire to a treatment autonomy, but without wanting to pass an HP exam. We will report in more detail in the next issue of the German Naturopathic Journal (DHZ). (Pm)
