Cookbooks have become obsolete: More and more people are getting the recipes from the internet

For more and more men, cooking is not „pure woman thing“ more. According to a recent survey, nine out of ten men cook in Germany at home. However, most of them do not buy cookbooks or special newspapers, but browse the Internet for new recipe ideas.

More and more people use the Internet to prepare main courses, cakes, soups or desserts. A representative survey showed the opinion research institute „YouGov“ showed that the web search has replaced browsing in cookery books, magazines or cookery programs. In addition, men are at home cooking according to the results „more adventurous and open-minded to new dishes“.

More and more rely on cooking portals on the Internet
In the pan sizzles and next to the Ipad with a website on the topic of cooking and recipes. It looks a hundred thousand times like this in German kitchens. Because online portals with recipes are more popular with the Germans than ever before. About 48 percent cook with recipe instructions from the Internet. Only then do the cooking tips (45 percent) come from grandma, mother, father or friends. Only 43 percent also leaf through cookbooks before picking up the kitchen knife. While 50 percent of women prefer to use the cookbook, men (36 percent) tend to be more online-minded. Very far back are the cooking programs, although lately there was a real boom. Only 10 percent are inspired by the shows like Veggi TV.

Men brave when cooking
And there was one more thing the survey study revealed: men are more courageous than women when it comes to cooking. One in three said never to cook for a cooking instruction. For women, only 19 percent confirmed this. For the survey, 1054 men and women from different regions and ages were interviewed.

Although men are more open-minded when cooking, but "the cooking frequency is clearly behind the women". More than every second woman cooks five times or more a week. Only every third man cooks so often. One in ten even says he never cooks. There was hardly a woman among the women who never cooked. Statistically zero percent.

„It depends on the freshness of the ingredients“, say both sexes. 90 percent of women cook in the majority with fresh ingredients. At least 77 percent of men are men. (Sb)
