In Rhede (near Münster) a pensioner died after eating minced meat. A total of 25 people fell ill with a serious salmonella infection after eating pig's pork.

The incident of fatal Salmonella infection already took place in early December 2010. A 73-year-old man bought raw pork in a supermarket. That same evening, the deceased and six other family members ate the minced meat. In mid-December, the retiree died as a result of the Salmonella poisoning.
