The journal "Naturarzt" (issue 9/2016) reports that three drops of rose, three drops of balm and four drops in this mixture have a positive effect on the mood. The oils are best placed in the water bowl of a fragrance lamp or on a scent stone. The oils are available in health food stores.

Aromatherapy in naturopathy is a holistic form of therapy in which body, soul and spirit are harmonized by the effect of herbal mixtures. Here, all the senses play a role. "First, the scents are absorbed by the sense of smell. Through the sense of well-being, hunger, joy, relaxation but also disgust can be triggered. " This shows how important the smell is for our health.

Study showed good results
Patients in hospitals often suffer from pain, nausea and vomiting as well as anxiety, which can also be triggered by the treatment. For this reason, US scientists conducted an observational study at ten hospitals to investigate the efficacy of aromatherapy in patients suffering from hospital conditions.

Nurses were provided with four essential oils for the treatment of these conditions, either as an inhalation or applied to the skin. Lavender oil was most commonly used, followed by ginger, sweet marjoram, mandarin and a combination of the oils.

It turned out that sweet marjoram was the best way to affect the pain. Lavender and sweet marjoram helped against anxiety, and ginger was the most successful nausea. This way, fragrances can not only eliminate stress but also relieve pain. (Sb)
