Telemedicine project at the Children's Clinic Anklam
Telemedicine should compensate for a lack of specialists

Telemedicine is now also being used in the children's clinic Greifswald. Minister of Social Affairs Birgit Hesse (SPD) opened a televideo system for telemedicine consultation between the emergency room at the Anklam hospital and the children's clinic of the Greifswald hospital at an official opening in Anklam.
„With the help of telemedicine physicians can make faster and easier diagnosis better. The advice of the young patients and parents is guaranteed“, said the minister in her speech in Anklam.
At night, it is possible that the doctors via the system of telemedicine contact the doctors in Greifswald to maintain a collegial and professional exchange. Above all, the video system was installed to counteract the lack of physicians in rural regions of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Therefore, doctors and clinics must use all technical variants to ensure the care and support of patients.
Disadvantage of telemedicine
Telemedicine has been tested since the 80s and 90s. Telemedicine aims to remove spatial distances between patients and doctors or doctors and specialists. Disadvantage of telemedicine is often the lack of adequate treatment options when a specialist is not on site. (Sb)
