Chinese medicine helps against fatigue syndrome fatigue

09/05/2014

Anyone who has survived a cancer usually begins a second life. For every fifth former cancer patient this is true in the truest sense of the word. Because they can not continue where their lives before the disease stopped. They suffer after recovery from the so-called fatigue syndrome. Behind the term is a massive fatigue syndrome, which forces 20 percent of former cancer patients to downscale their demands on everyday life. Some even have to give up their profession. Concentration disorders and forgetfulness occasionally occur. Explanations as to why fatigue syndrome affects some and spares others can not yet be offered by conventional medicine, as can medical solutions. Traditional Chinese medicine, on the other hand, has found explanations and treatment options that sometimes show success after only a few days or weeks.

The starting point of Chinese treatment of fatigue syndrome is the „Metabolic digestive system“. Chinese is called it „center“ designated. „The task of the 'center' is to sift through and sort out all substances and information that enter the organism from outside or that are generated internally. So-called substances with clear energies are useful in the healthy man incorporated into the existing, the substances with turbid energies as 'turbid' excreted“, brings Dr. Christian Schmincke, TCM expert and head of the clinic at the Steigerwald, the Far Eastern perspective closer. Disruptions in this sorting and sorting function of „center“ have the consequence that substances with „dull“ Energies are no longer excreted and accumulate in depots in the body. This can lead to fatigue syndrome in the long term. „It is well known that a copious meal makes you tired. The same applies, however, to the internal material burdens that a tumor disease entails“, explains Dr. Schmincke. „Thus, tumor-produced harmful substances, cytotoxins burdened by chemotherapy or narcotic poisons metabolism. In addition, tissue breakdown by the tumor itself or by surgery may overwhelm the function of the 'middle' as well as stresses that may have preceded tumorigenesis.“

Although fatigue syndrome is a new type of disease in terms of conventional medicine, since Chinese medicine also knows such conditions of fatigue in other diseases, it already has good therapeutic options. The pillar of the treatment is the Chinese drug therapy, whose formulations have proven themselves in states of exhaustion. „Their task is to mobilize dischargeable substances from their depots, to convert them into a dischargeable form and to promote excretion via the intestine, kidney bladder and the other mucous membranes“, says Dr. Schmincke. Patients often find that a few days or weeks after the medication is given, nausea is broken down, bowel movements are regulated and temperature sensation changes - all signs that the body is starting to excrete harmful substances. Patients sometimes feel relieved, vital and optimistic after just a few days. In addition, further therapy modules such as body therapy, qigong, Chinese dietetics and acupuncture are used. (Pm)
