Do not really need to prevent women right after the period?
As good as any woman is happy, if after the end of the menstruation finally the violent menstrual pain is over. Some say that you can have unprotected sex during this time and that you do not have to worry about contraception. Is that true??

Prevention with pill and condoms preferred
The majority of Germans prefer pill and condom contraception. For example, a study conducted by the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA) some years ago found that about 53 percent of sexually active adults use contraceptive pills and about 37 percent use condoms. But taking the drug is also associated with unpleasant side effects. Therefore, many women would rather protect themselves in another way from unwanted pregnancy. There are several hormone-free alternatives to the pill, their effectiveness is proven and cause little or no burden on health.

Do women go out without contraception after their period??
However, abusive theories are also circulating on the topic of contraception. So you can hear, among other things: "Immediately after their period, women can not get pregnant," which is why then one could safely have unprotected intercourse. But do women really come without contraception right after their menstruation? Not with absolute certainty, said the president of the professional association of gynecologists (BVF), Christian Albring, in a message from the news agency dpa.

Sometimes the egg takes longer to mature
As the expert explained, a pregnancy is basically possible if a woman has sex around and especially shortly after ovulation. "This usually happens 10 to 14 days after the onset of the last menstruation," says Albring. However, according to the physician, it rarely happens that ovulation is triggered much earlier, say shortly after the period. "Likewise, it is also possible that the egg leaves much longer time to mature." So women do not want to get pregnant, they should better prevent shortly after their period.

Prevent with the temperature method
One form of natural contraception is the temperature method. "The basal temperature method is based on the observation that the body temperature rises measurably about two days after ovulation and remains elevated until the onset of menstruation," writes the Association of Gynecologists (BVF) on the website "frauenaerzte-im-netz.de". And further: "With the temperature method, it can be determined afterwards whether an ovulation has occurred." In addition to a precise thermometer, a cycle calendar is needed, in which the daily measured values are entered and thus the temperature profile can be controlled. (Ad)
