Body oils are considered by cosmetic experts to be particularly caring, as long as they are quality products. They are intended to protect the skin from moisture loss. Most consumers need to reach deeper into the purse for a body oil. Stiftung Warentest has examined nine body oils based on vegetable oil. The most expensive oil in the test for 25 euros per 100 milliliters was rated only "poor". "Cheap products from drugstores could score points," say the consumer advocates.

Test winners and test losers are among the most expensive body oils
In the overall ranking, five body oils received a "good", three a "satisfactory" and one of the products was rated "poor". The latter smelled the experts of Stiftung Warentest according to "cheesy" and was therefore rated as corrupt. This was the most expensive product in the investigation. "Test winners and test losers are among the most expensive oils in the test. Both are argan oils. Argan oil is rare. It is elaborately extracted from the fruits of the argan tree, which only grows in the southwest of Morocco. The test winner with the grade 'good' is a bio-argan oil, as well as the test loser, "write the consumer advocates.

20 subjects rated
Twenty female testers tested body oils and rated them for their protective effect against moisture loss. In addition, the products were examined for their ingredients. It turned out that eight of the nine products contained mineral oil constituents. However, these were not heavily contaminated. Stiftung Warentest advises housewives to pay attention to the list of contents when choosing the right body oil. Because "the oil that comes first is the main ingredient of the product". Some manufacturers promote their oils as products with particularly high-quality ingredients, "which on closer inspection in some cases, however, are contained only in small quantities."

Mostly a few defects
When using the oils, the testers noticed little flaws. "On clothing, the oils did not stain in the field test and could disprove a widespread prejudice," say the consumer advocates. (Ag)
