Social association against private long-term care insurance
Solidary goes before private - also in the care
03/05/2011
"The proposal for a mandatory lump sum in long-term care insurance is going in the wrong direction," said the President of the Social and Welfare Association of People's Solidarity, Prof. Gunnar Winkler, on Tuesday. "The problem of financing care can not and must not be solved privately and on the capital market. The answer can only be to continue to fund and strengthen social nursing insurance in solidarity. "
It is clear that growing demands for care with an increasing number of people in need of care and increased performance can not be met with the current financing mechanism, emphasized Winkler again. "In the wrong direction of partial privatization, which has already been taken in the statutory health insurance, must not be gone in the care. In the longer term, a citizen's insurance must contribute to the solidarity of the care risk in an aging society. "
The association president referred to the position paper "Caring for solidarity, in line with needs and in high quality", with which the people's solidarity is involved in the debate on statutory new regulations in the field of nursing.
