Manipulations in several hospitals
About a year ago, the Standing Committee on Organ Transplantation at the German Medical Association had announced a change in the award criteria for heart transplants. As it was then said, the change is also a consequence of the various transplant scandals. For example, there had previously been manipulation at the heart center in Berlin. Corresponding violations should also have taken place in the Heidelberg University Hospital, as recently reported. Apparently now two more hospitals are added in which was manipulated.
Irregularities in two other clinics
There have been irregularities in cardiac and lung transplants at two other German university hospitals, in Cologne and Jena. The clinics confirmed the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" corresponding information from the environment of the competent examination and monitoring commission (PÜK). According to the hospitals, both facilities were concerned with providing more quickly a donor organ to critically ill patients. It is said that the responsible doctors did not enrich themselves. (Ad)
