Drugstore dm launches recall of organic soy drink calcium

The drugstore chain dm has started a callback for the product "dmBio soy drink calcium". Due to microbial deviations, the consistency of the beverage could be greatly altered, as evidenced for example by flocculation. Another company is currently reclaiming turmeric powder because of a possible health hazard.

Changed consistency of the drink possible

The drugstore chain dm calls back the organic soy drink calcium. As the company writes on its website, in isolated packages of the product "dmBio soy drink calcium" with the best before date (MHD) 18.01.2019 a sensory deviation was determined, which is due to a microbial deviation. As a result, the consistency of the product can change greatly, as shown for example by a flocculation or phase separation.

As a precaution, taken out of the sale

"Because it can not be ruled out with complete certainty that further packs may be affected by this MHD, dm has removed the entire batch as a precaution," the company writes.

The best before date (MHD) is easily recognized on the top next to the screw cap.

Customers who have purchased the product with above mentioned MHD can return it unopened or already opened in the DM markets. The purchase price will be refunded.

Salmonella in turmeric powder

There is currently another call back from the food sector.

As the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety reports on its portal "Lebensmittelwarnung.de", the company Ideal Cash & Carry Turmeric Powder Haldi (brand: TRS) recalls 100 grams with a best before date of 31.10.2019.

In turmeric powder Salmonella have been detected.

Bacteria cause gastrointestinal infections

Salmonella are bacteria that can cause severe stomach / bowel disease (salmonellosis).

The disease occurs several hours to days after infection and manifests itself mainly by sudden onset of diarrhea, abdominal pain, malaise, feeling cold and headache.

In some cases, vomiting and mild fever are added.

"The symptoms often last for several days. In infants or older adults, the resulting dehydration may be severe, "writes the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on its website.

Consumption is not recommended

"People who have eaten this food and develop severe or persistent symptoms should seek medical attention and a possible salmonella infection," reads a customer information from Ideal Cash & Carry.

"Taking preventive medical treatment without symptoms does not make sense."

Customers who have purchased this product are advised not to consume it or to heat it before consumption. All customers can submit the article to the distributor and get new refunded. (Ad)
