Older people, unlike younger people, enjoy the happiness of small things. As a US study has shown, seniors relate their satisfaction more often from everyday occurrences.
Seniors relate satisfaction from everyday events
People appreciate the happiness of little things more with age. Younger people, on the other hand, would need extraordinary events, such as travel to exotic countries, to make them happy. Like the health magazine „pharmacy magazine“ (4/2014 B) citing a US study, senior citizens are more likely to relate their satisfaction to everyday occurrences, such as being with grandchildren.
Older people enjoy the happiness of the moment
The researchers concluded that young people lived future-oriented and would look for experiences that mark the progress. Seniors, on the other hand, know where they stand and would enjoy the happiness of the moment. The fact that the majority of older people are relatively satisfied with their lives was confirmed by scientists from Heidelberg University last year. In the „Second Heidelberg centenarian study“ Among other things, they also examined the psychic strengths of the very old. Many centenarians thus benefit from a positive attitude, the will to live as well as the ability to see meaning in life. Four out of five centenarians had testified in the study that they were happy with their lives. (Ad)
