Plastic Surgery Botox & Laser increasingly popular
Beauty corrections are also enjoying increasing popularity in Germany. In particular, the use of Botox for wrinkle treatment is the trend among women in this country. Men prefer to prefer the laser treatment. The supposed desire for perfection continues.
(10.09.2010) The Society for Aesthetic Surgery Germany e.V. (GÄCD) recorded an increase of around 20 percent in the cosmetic surgery operations in 2009. A total of 171,000 people performed cosmetic corrections on their bodies last year by members of the GÄCD. In addition, more and more light cosmetic corrections, such. B. wrinkle treatments with Botox as filling substance demanded. According to GÄCD, their use alone in 2009 increased by more than 50 percent to 146,000. Especially women rely on the use of Botox, while men make up only a very small proportion of patients (just over 10 percent). On the one hand, men are less prone to aesthetic surgery on their bodies, and on the other, according to the GÄCD, they prefer laser treatments for wrinkle smoothing and the removal of facial keratinization. Around 43,000 men had their appearance corrected in this way.
„The most popular interventions are the most cost-effective“, GÄCD general secretary Matthias Gensior explains the massive increase in Botox treatments, with increases of 20 percent in cosmetic surgery also indicating a general trend towards correcting one's own body. In addition to wrinkle treatment, liposuction (almost 17,000) cases and eyelid corrections are also included popular with women. In contrast to wrinkle treatment, men can often correct their nose (just under 3,500 procedures) or remove tattoos
However, the massive increase in cosmetic corrections is not entirely unproblematic in the opinion of the Consumer Protection Centers. Thus, the consumer protection center North Rhine -Westphalia warned only in June this year before, „That all operations are always associated with health, sometimes considerable risks“ and unlike reconstructive or plastic surgery, which involves restoring the body, for example, after accidents, usually not „medically necessary“ are.
The trend, which is now very pronounced in the US, seems to be establishing itself in Germany as well. Especially women - but also more and more men - try to run after a non-natural ideal of beauty. For many it does not stay with one „Plastic surgery“. For many US stars, a plastic surgery is now a "good sound". This is also reflected in the normal population. More and more people are undergoing surgery. The psychological consequences are sometimes not foreseeable. Even such operations can not change emotions and fears. (sb, fp)
