Bad notes for frozen pasta dishes
Stiftung Warentest: Bad ratings for frozen pasta dishes
26/01/2012
The consumer organization Stiftung Warentest examined 24 frozen pasta dishes and published the results in the current issue of the magazine „test“: Only thirteen noodle dishes cut with the rating „Well“ from. In one product, pork was detected, although on the packaging „with vegetable filling“ was specified. This is all the more annoying when meat despisers go out of a vegetarian composition. Overall, however, the consumer advocates of Stiftung Warentest come to the test verdict, „Frozen pasta dishes can replace well-balanced meals.“
Only five of 24 frozen pasta dishes taste almost like home cooked
Stiftung Warentest examined 24 frozen pasta dishes from various manufacturers, with and without meat, from Bami-Goreng to tortellini in cheese cream sauce. The rating ranges from „Well“ to „inadequate“.
After all, thirteen of the 24 courts were given the verdict „Well“. At 16 no additives were found. However, three frozen dishes were added flavorings. Three of Frozen Frozen Pasta Dishes by Frosta and two by Iglo tasted the testers of Stiftung Warentest „almost as good as self-cooked“.
Pork meat though vegetable filling was specified
Three pasta dishes detected a smell of finished sauce. In three other dishes, the soy sauce covered everything. A brand Bami Goreng dish „Jütro“ was with „inadequate“ rated, there „the meat slightly old and dry, the vegetables dull and bitter“ was, so Stiftung Warentest. Also with the judgment „inadequate“ provided, were the „Mama Mancini“ Tortellini cheese cream from Aldi (North). Although on the packaging „with vegetable filling“ was indicated in the test, pork was detected. In this context, vegetarian initiatives warn solely on advertising slogans of food manufacturers and instead "to study exactly the contents of the products". It would be better to "cook for yourself."
In conclusion, Stiftung Warentest came to the verdict that many „Frozen pasta dishes balanced meals“ could be. However, the fat content of each dish is very different. This varies with a 400-gram portion of 5 to 32 grams. All results and a detailed test description of the frozen pasta dishes are published in the February issue of the in-house journal Test. The test consisted of 24 deep-frozen pasta dishes with and without meat, nine times Bami Goreng, five pasta dishes with chicken, five pasta dishes with Gorgonzola spinach and five Tortellini / Tortelloni with cheese cream sauce.
