Doctor Seven small tips can increase life expectancy

Doctor Seven small tips can increase life expectancy / Health News
Germans are getting older and older. Life expectancy here in Germany is rising by about three months per year. According to the Federal Statistical Office, around 16,000 centenarians currently live in Germany, compared with just 2,600 20 years ago. In addition, we stay fit longer and longer: The 70-year-olds are as active as the 60-year-olds. As far as the statistics. But what can you do personally to lead a long and healthy life? The doctor Dr. med. Franziska Rubin - known from the MDR program "Main thing healthy" - gives 7 tips.

1. Go through life with energy!
The most important thing at any age is exercise. It trains muscles and bones and helps to maintain mobility, flexibility and sense of balance. With a pedometer, you can check how many steps you take each day: it should be at least 3,000. 10,000 are optimal. But no matter whether you go walking, jogging, dancing, cycling, hiking or walking. Asian martial arts have discovered Tai Chi for themselves: Exercise helps you to feel - and therefore has a fantastic side effect. She just makes you happy!

2. Eat seasonal, regional and fresh!
There is hardly a field in medicine that is argued about as much as about the "right nutrition". But the fact is: Excessive intake of food, too much saturated fats, empty carbohydrates (such as sugar and white flour), an excess of meat and sausage and additives have negative effects on health and pave the way for many illnesses. Therefore, it is recommended to eat fresh, seasonal and regional. In addition, take advantage of the special healing powers of spices and herbs: this is tasty medicine from the kitchen.

3. Drink regularly and adequately!
The question of how much fluid should be absorbed at all - and above all in old age - is assessed differently by experts. My recommendation is that you do not need to drink gallons, but regardless of your age, make sure that your organism does not dry up. This has a negative effect on your own energy and brain power. For your reassurance: As long as your urine is light, drink enough.

4. Sleep is the best source of relaxation!
"Take every day for half an hour for your worries and in this time take a nap," said the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu. A nice idea: sleep as a care provider. In fact, sleep is one of our most important sources of health and well-being. In many people, however, he is disturbed, which is why sleep problems are also the third most frequent reason for a visit to the doctor. The rule of thumb for light sleep problems: Go to bed at fixed times and banish anything that bothers you - if necessary your partner and especially the TV - from the bedroom!

5. Strengthen your "inner doctor"!
The term "inner physician" refers to our own self-healing powers that can assist, or even cure, any healing process. We all carry this doctor inside us and we can use it by taking a salt water nasal douche in case of a cold instead of a decongestant spray that dries out the nose. So there are a number of self-help measures that can be incorporated into everyday life to strengthen one's health. Morning cold brewing after a warm shower, for example, strengthens the immune system and stimulates blood circulation.

6. Positive thinking!
People with a positive attitude to life usually have better mental coping strategies. They expose themselves less stress and thus spare their defenses. Therefore: Try to think positively! Dissatisfaction often comes from constantly evaluating things happening around us. Anyone who manages to free themselves from these thoughts, lives better and happier. Because: nagging robs a lot of energy.

7. Stay mentally up to date - at any age!
Just like our muscles, the brain also wants to be busy - for a lifetime. If the gray cells are not regularly supplied with new "feed", they degrade. This is not primarily about "brain jogging" but rather about it,
To cultivate friendships, to participate in the daily routine and to engage with spiritual ones,
surrounded by sensual and emotional impulses. Anyone who is also interested in other people and creates good conditions for a long and happy life! (Dr. Franziska Rubin)
