A medical doctor in northwestern Mexico made a tragic mistake. As the news agency dpa reports, the doctor accidentally operated a child out of the wrong eye. According to the information, the doctor should have removed the left eye of the one-year-old child because of a tumor. Instead, he operated out of his right eye in a hospital in the city of Ciudad Obregón, in the state of Sonora. The Mexican Social Security said on Thursday evening (local time) that he had not followed the medical protocols. She spoke of "regrettable events".

Because the little boy is suffering from advanced cancer, his health remains critical. The boy's parents filed a criminal complaint.
