Protect the skin in winter with greasy creams and do without baths

In winter, our skin is exposed to special stress, which is why some key principles should be considered in winter skin care. The news agency „dpa“ has put together the key points for skincare in winter in a recent release. Long bathing is therefore taboo and skin care products should have an increased fat content to further protect the skin, the reports „dpa“ citing the subject portal „Haut.de“, which cooperates with the Association of Aesthetic Dermatology and Cosmetology.
The skin is stressed in winter by the cold outside temperature, as well as by the heating air inside, so the announcement of the „dpa“. Due to the low humidity, the skin is drying out more and more. In addition, the skin at low temperatures to their metabolism, which means that in the sebaceous glands less skin fats are produced, and thus lost the protective natural film of fat skin, reports the portal „Haut.de“. Due to the lack of protective coating, the water evaporates faster from the skin surface, the skin dries up, becomes brittle and at the same time pollutants can penetrate more easily.
Increased fat content of skin care products recommended
In order to protect the skin properly in winter, according to the experts, care products with a higher fat content should be chosen. Water-based gels or light lotions are rather unsuitable, as they contain too much water and can therefore additionally have a drying effect. On the other hand, fatty cream offers additional protection against cold. When selecting suitable care products, however, the respective skin type must be taken into account.
Baden dries up the house
Furthermore, the skin cleansing should be adjusted in winter and showered daily for a short time lukewarm. Bathing is rather critical to evaluate as the fat film of the skin is additionally attacked. A maximum of two baths a week, which last no longer than 15 minutes are allowed according to the experts, although moisturizing bath additives such as bath oils should be used. In addition, the skin should be creamed after bathing with an oil-in-water emulsion. (Fp)
